221024 Our Brain

I started using my brain to think about the brain this morning.

The brain is our most important organ, though not the most fun organ we use as often as we are able.

I believe everything we have ever thought, learned, seen, experienced is still in our brain’s storage, somewhere. Our brain works harder when we sleep than when we are awake. That may be difficult to believe, but it is verifiably true. We think because our bodies are doing all sorts of things as we multitask our lives away during our working hours. However, at night the subconscious mind takes control to sort out all we did all day long and heal our body as we sleep, so if you have a busy day with work and exercise and musing, the brain has a lot to do in a few hours while we had all day to do whatever we did during our waking hours.

Our memories are brought back to us through what are called synapses that keep everything there connected and that is where the problem occurs within our brain. Things we think about every day build strong synapses, while things we don’t do constantly have a tendency to weaken, making it more difficult to make those connections when we want to recall a name or a face or what we did last week. Now when you dwell on a mistake you made 20 years ago and keep thinking about that day after day, you build a strong synaptic connection. That you do not want to do, let the past mistakes go and free yourself from guilt and soon those thoughts will go away.

I hope this post is helpful and enlightening. If is isn’t, then forget about it and it will go away.

  1. Also, if you are studying a subject or in a class environment and you are enjoying yourself, then you are more likely to remember the facts than when you don’t like the experience. Charles

    1. Absolutely Charles. That seems correct. The more we do something the more synapses are built and strengthened.
