Today’s Song
Books
Politics
Anyone my age will likely remember this one; “Happy Trails to You” from the Roy Rogers Dale Evans TV show.
They were a wonderful couple and the show appealed to kids and maybe a few grownups; I cannot vouch for the grownups.
I love books and songs that when read or heard give me a picture in my brain as to what is going on in the writer’s head. My favorite books are varied in content, but I will list a few of the books. “I’m no Hero” by Captain Charlie Plumb is about his being shot down over Vietnam and captured by North Vietnamese. He went through more suffering than I could have. “Troubled Water” by Gregory Freeman is about a mutiny and riot on my USS Kitty Hawk. It is a very tense edition and more so because I remember all the places described in the story. “Surfing the Himalayas” by Fredrick Lenz is a strange tale about an American snowboarder going to Tibet to snowboard down the huge mountains and meeting a mystical Buddhist monk.
Nobody asks me
About how politics should be
I do have suggestions
Likely to fuel rejections
I think everyone should have a right to vote
But that would for some be a sour note
If a party should ever ask
I am certainly up to the task
I’m qualified to be the president
And that could start a new precedent
