This is important to anyone who has a Microsoft computer.
Microsoft will be rolling out the new Windows 11 operating system in the fall of this year. This comes after Microsoft declared early this year that Windows 10 operating system would be the last ever and that they would just keep updating Windows 10 from now on. Well sports and gaming fans they did not tell you the truth. The worst thing about the new Windows 11 is that unless you have a Windows computer newer than 2019; you will likely not be able to run Windows 11 on your computer, so you are SOL, or as we in the navy called it, ”Shit out of luck.” There are some work a rounds that if you are a high tech guru you can get past the problem on some computers, but you may have to find someone to do it for you. This issue even affects Microsoft's own 2018 high-end surface computers. The main issue is the hardware on your computer will not meet the new standards for Windows 11. Some of them are these; you must have a dual-core processor (at least an 8th generation Intel processor) with at least with 1 giga-byte speed (most are that fast but not all) it must be a 64 byte operating system it must also have 4 giga-bytes of memory and at least a 64 giga-byte SSD or hard drive of that size. A 64 giga-byte drive will allow an initial installation of Windows 11, but the article warns that soon the drive will run out of space for future updates, which will again leave you in a pickle. Some older Microsoft computers list the hardware specifications on the device or on the keyboard of a laptop. Sound advice is a 256 giga-byte drive at the minimum and for those who are video game aficionados; you will want to exceed every requirement listed here by a factor of 10 or more. This issue of the Sentinel was written with the assistance of my western guru and I thank him for it.
This type of brinksmanship is not only Microsoft, but also my beloved Google Chrome books. They were ahead of Microsoft in this game. My first Chrome book that I have had for 9 years of constant wonderful service is now on the scrap heap because Google will no longer update it and without updates; you are welcoming in hackers you’re your computer. I have a second Chrome book I bought in 2019 that will no longer be updated in just 15 months. The game both players, Google and Microsoft are in now is basically to force the consumer to buy a new computer every 5 years.
