I love this story.
A man was in a terrible automobile accident. His body was a mass of fractured and broken bones. Doctors reset the broken bones and placed him in a full body cast so he could not move while his bones healed.
He could only see the ceiling above him. There was an old man sharing the room with him. Every morning he would ask the old man, “ how's the weather outside?” The old man would tell him, “oh it’s a beautiful, sunny morning. The trees are leafed out and there a gentle breeze that makes the branches sway like they are dancing.”
One day it was time to have the body cast removed and when he was rolled back into the room he asked the nurse, “why am I in a different room?” The nurse replied, “you are in the same room as before.” The man said, “no this is not my room, there is no old man and no window. The old man gave me a weather report every morning as he looked out the window.” The nurse said, “the old man died last night and was taken away. I don’t know how he could give you a weather report because the old man was totally blind.”
There’s a lesson in this story and I got it, did you?
