      Ankor Wat
This is the biggest religious site in the world and yet it was built over 900 years ago. It covers 400 acres of ground and its temples are taller than any in the world. The craftsmanship is as good as anything in our world today. 900 years ago it was the largest city in the world. It was built by the Kumer people of Cambodia. Inscriptions on its walls are in the old language of the Kumer people and in Indian Sanskrit. The distance from India to Cambodia is 1819 miles, so how long did it take Indians to get there to Cambodia? That's about 72 days straight on level ground, walking 24 miles a day, not something I could do.
Ankor Wat was discovered by accident 160 years ago in the jungles of Cambodia. A French explorer found it while searching for exotic insects. Ironically he was bitten by a poisonous insect, suffered for over a year and then died from it. The king of Cambodia 900 years ago was Jo Dan, he had 5 wives and a 3000 female harem. I don't know how he found the time to build that city with all its grand temples.
