      Old men start the war
      be it near or far
      young men fight the war.

      Young men end up wounded or dead
      wives and mothers suffer the dread
      no one knows what may lay ahead.

      Officers will see a promotion
      while enlisted men are barely noted
      as so often the poets have quoted.

      By the end of every day
      battles can go either way
      the cost of which dead men pay.

      Men are never the same after a war
      some may question what was it all for
      all lose innocence in a war.

      I hope and pray
      that one fine day
      old men will find a way
      to keep all wars at bay.
