Banging at the Door 190716

      I recalled this story this morning. The story is true.

      Mom and dad had just moved to San Diego 2 months prior to the event. They were living in an apartment in Rancho Penasquitos California, near where Joyce and I lived. The story begins at 4:30 in the morning. There was a loud banging on their door. Mom got up and went to answer the door.
      There were 2 sheriff's deputies at the door, one began to speak, "does Robert Weber live here?"
      Mom, "yes he does."
      Deputy, "is he here now?"
      Mom, "yes he is sleeping."
      Deputy, "wake him up and bring him here."
      Mom woke dad up and they walked to the door.
      Deputy, "Robert Weber we are arresting you for illegally selling unsafe and dangerous motorcycle helmets."
      Mom, "ls there an arrest warrant?"
      Deputy, "yes signed by a judge in Dallas, Texas."
      Mom, "he has never been to Dallas. Do you have a description on the man you are looking for?""
      Deputy, "yes I have one right here."
      Mom, "will you show it to me?" The deputy handed to mom and she looked at it. Height, weight and color looked close, but when she saw the age, it said 30-35 years old. Dad was 59 years old.
      Mom, "does he look 35 years old to you?"
      Deputy, "no mam he does not, sorry about disturbing you."
      The deputies turned and left. Were it not for mom's quick thinking dad would have been locked up and possibly on his way to Texas before things were cleared up properly.
