Thoughts on Justice 190510

      These thoughts came to me over several days.

      Justice is a word often bandied around
      But true justice is not always found

      Those who steal by fraud and then deceive
      The justice they deserve they rarely receive
      Meanwhile those that they harm still grieve
      In justice, those harmed find hard to believe

      Those harmed don't want to wait
      But justice often comes too late
      Justice is something politicians like to debate
      But their accomplishments are not often great

      The perpetrators that live in an ivory tower
      They also possess the front seat of power

      Those committing petty crimes quickly suffer
      because they do not have the rich man's buffer

      Sooner or later all perpetrators are taken down
      While those they harmed may not still be around

      But sooner or later the bad ones will finally die
      And find themselves trying to explain to God why

      They made so many of their victims suffer
      Those below that did not have the buffer
