You wouldn't know it by today’s temperature
But one thing that I can tell you for sure
Fall ends soon and winter is coming on
Trees are shedding their leaves on the lawn
All the leaves show beautiful colors of late
But no matter their color all fall at the same rate
A month from now they’ll all be down and gone
Leaving nothing but bare branches to look upon
At some point snowflakes will cover the ground
Displaying a beautiful cover of white all around
The furnace will run all the night and day
And the cold will limit my outdoor play
Once the holidays have come and passed
I’ll be looking forward toward spring at last
