Tornado Tale

It is a dark, dank, dreary day
All I can do is kneel and pray
Hoping the weather is held at bay
Wishing for sunshine and end to gray

The daytime is dark as night
The winds really give me a fright
Thank God this old house is still tight
Holding up to nature’s might

It is scary looking out into the day
Worse after dark unable to see into the fray
After dark there may be hell to pay
Making me long for the light of day

I hope someday I will again be bold
I will have another tall tale to be told
It will be a memory when I am really old
One I’ll speak of before I grow cold
