I was teaching basic aviation electronics in a naval training station, Millington, Tennessee when I bought a decked out VW camper van from another sailor. Prior to that we went camping using a tent.
The VW camper slept up to 6 people. It had an icebox, tableware, mosquito netting and plenty of space for other things. I’d get off early on a Friday and Joyce would have all the food we needed to cook for the trip and off we would go camping. We camped in Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas. We had a lot of fun with that old VW camper. We sold it to another sailor when we left Millington. I still think about that camper and the good times we had back then.
