I was living alone in my humble home
Bill
with no one around
it was devoid of sound
but when the kids came over for Mother’s day
we went outside with a basketball to play
I dribbled the ball under the basket
to make a hook shot but tripped and almost put me into a casket
I hit the concrete with my hip and my head
my hip was cracked but at least I wasn’t dead
an ambulance was called to whisk me away
there was no more basketball to play that day
I went into surgery immediately they said
the next thing I knew I was in a bed
nurses came in to give me a shot
that seemed to happen quite a lot
others came in to check my vital signs every hour every day
or at least to check if I’d passed away
from the hospital I went to what they called a rehab center
a torture chamber describes it better
hour after hour I felt the pain
they kept saying no pain no gain
up and down the halls I would roam
they finally released me so I could go home
I still walk the hallway at home and the pain I still dread
but at least I get to sleep in my own bed

So sorry you hurt yourself. Glad you are home and control where you get your pain. By the way did the kids tell you if th ball went into the basket.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh Jim. I don't know if anyone saw whether the ball went in or not. It's been a long way home. Now there is a nurse that comes in and a physical therapist comes in too. They are working with me and both say I am doing well, better than expected. I can get around well, but there is a lot of pain in the hip and leg. They tell me it will go away and I hope they are right. Time will tell.

Glad your home young fellear
ReplyDeleteMe too. I still have a lot of pain, but it's so much nicer to endure pain at home than in a facility somewhere. And at home I can have a beer!
