As I live here day after day with basically the same routine, the same diet, the same tasks, I don’t have a whole lot to look forward to.
I’m not despondent, but there’s not a lot to be thrilled about. I’m living in the movie “GroundHog Day”. I'm reliving the same day over and over and over again. What I have is not a bad life, but I must admit, it’s a boring life at times.
The kids come over once in a while and that is a little change from a regular day. I’ve been invited to move in with them, but I want my independence until I’m no longer able to function without assistance. At this time I am quite capable of living alone. I’m not the man I once was, but then who is when he is 80 years old?
There’s an old song titled “Big John” Big John worked in a deep dark coal mine with the other men of the town. One day there was a cave in that trapped the 80 miners below ground. Big John was not going to let them die. He used his mighty strength to work his way toward the surface. Then one of the miners shouted there’s a light up above! Big John held open the exit for all of the miners to get to safety, but then the mine collapsed again, trapping Big John below. The miners used jacks and timbers to head back down and rescue Big John, but before they could get to Big John, there was a gaseous explosion that killed Big John.
By now you may be wondering if I’ve lost my mind?
Not so, that picture up above relates to the coal mine. Big John is the builder. If he gets the construction done before next year. I may be saved and get to move in there. As yet I don’t know a lot about the place, other than it’s being built for older folks. I would be happy to be in a place with an abundance of people that are close to my age all around me. Then I would be able to socialize with others in my age bracket and likely make some friends my age. The best thing would be that they haven’t yet heard all of my stories so I get to tell them all over again.
Brother Bill
I'm praying it will all be good for you. Walk by there often to see when they will be taking applications.
