250312 Wonderful Day

A good day’s work never hurts anyone.

My day began as I cleaned the toilets. I know that cleaning toilets is no fun, but it makes a person feel good once it’s done.

My next chore was cleaning the hard surface floors. They didn’t look dirty, but they were.

I started to feel overly warm, so I looked at the outside temperature and it was delightfully warm. I was able to open my windows and the sliding glass door to get the first fresh air of the year.

The temperature was just right for me and that being true, meant it was just right for the crawly critters that want to invade my home. I found my insect sprayer and went to work spraying the outside window sills and the sliding glass door sill and the outside of the entry door.

That may seem like a day’s work, but I was on a roll and didn’t want to quit yet. I went through closets for clothes not worn for a year and cabinets for excess items not used for over a year. Afterward it was time for a trip to the dumpster.

Of course there’s more to deal with, but I’m not ready yet. I have maintenance done by the maintenance men, so I have little use for the tools I have, but there’s a sentimental value to me and memories of when I had so many tools to fix so many things on the farm.

Well I just heard the 3:30 pm whistle blow. That means it’s time to kick back, listen to my favorite music playlist, have a couple of beers and a smoke or two.

Life here is good, but as always, it would be better if Joyce were still alive and here by my side to share my life. 58 years of marriage to Joyce just wasn’t long enough for me to be fulfilled.
