211225 Sentinel, On Christmas

Christmas Day 2021

During my navy time on Christmas day, I spent several of them far away. Aboard a ship or on a foreign shore, it doesn’t matter anymore. No matter how far away a man may roam, he still misses being home. Christmas is a family event and it’s never fun onboard a ship or in an army tent. When you are away from home, Christmas Day is like the day before and the day that will follow, making it a bitter pill to swallow. For me, those days are never more; but for soldiers and sailors these days there are more in store. On every Christmas Day, I think about them and pray that they don’t have the ultimate price to pay, in combat far away.
God bless the men and women in our uniformed services today and every day after.
