My Missouri has always been known as, “The Show Me State.”
I have in my old age, grown soft.
I love Jesus and also follow the teachings of the Buddha.
The quaint saying was, “I’m from Missouri; you gotta show me before I believe you.” Well those the Springfield area have certainly shown they do not believe in getting the Covid-19 vaccination. Now they are filling the ICU units with young people that did not get the vaccination. Not only are they on ventilators, but they may have given the gift of death or lifelong suffering from the effects of Covid to their children and perhaps their grandparents as well.
For some bizarre reason I believe that all human life is sacred. How people nearby can risk their own life and the lives of their loved ones because they don’t want anyone telling them they should get a simple shot to prevent their own demise or suffering from the debilitating after effects of the Covid-19 Delta version and risk their children getting it is beyond my comprehension.
Buddha was the first pacifist 500 years before Jesus. The difference was Jesus could have smote all those who gathered against Him and certainly those who crucified Him, but He chose not to do so because He loved even His enemies. I am having a difficult time with loving those who do reckless and stupid things that endanger others.

I agree, it seems to me that sometimes we become so selfish and individualistic lose sight that we are part of an overall society and need to be willing to take a step to help each other.
