Ego, Amen and Words from Wise Men and Women
In my estimation, people with big egos have been the worst people to be around. They assume that they know everything about everything. I have found that despite what they believe they are nowhere near being correct on that subject. One can never convince them that they could possibly be incorrect.
Amen is a word I hear at times. When I was a boy I had 12 years of religious indoctrination and by then I was sure that I would end up in hell. I was taught to always say amen at the end of every prayer. In the last two years of my life, I still say those prayers, but never say amen. My reasoning is this: the meaning of amen is “so be it!” I cannot think of anything as sacrilegious as to tell the supreme God in heaven so be it. How could I, a mortal man tell the God in heaven who created heaven and earth and mankind that this is it, this is what it will be because I have spoken?
Here are some words from the wise people of the past.To those who are good,be also good.To those who are not good, be also good. To those who are sincere, be also sincere; to those who are not sincere be also sincere. The best answer to a fool is silence. To a pessimist every opportunity has an obstacle. To an optimist every obstacle is an opportunity. The tongue is like a sharp knife; it can kill without drawing blood. With every deed, you sow a seed, the result of which you may never see. Every bad thing that happens to you is an opportunity to learn. Everything happens for the best; you may not get to see it, but it happens for the best. My final wisdom from the wise is, never let anyone live in your head rent free.
