The Real Sentinel News and my Router Story 200421

The Sentinel

All the news that's fit to print and some that's not.

We have moved to a new location.

We were tired of where we were so we downsized once again and left. One of the things that helped me decide where to go was the promise of better and higher speed internet. Our west coast bureau chief sent me a router so I had one before we moved. It was one he had in storage, but it was limited to 100 mega bits per second. We are now in a place that advertises 1000 giga bits per second. So I went out and bought a new 1000 giga bit router. It turned out I was still limited to less than 100 mega bits download, a fraction of what we are supposed to get here. I have called the company that supplies our service and I am awaiting a reply from them. I hope they can do something to get me closer, much closer than I am right now.

It would appear that, as many things in life, the advertising does not match the results.

Retirement

We have found that with the current pandemic we are doing well in our isolation. In fact the days just whisk by and they don't seem long enough. We still get out and walk around the complex when the weather is kind enough for us. If we are trapped inside we make steps instead of saving them as some elderly seem to do. I stay busy with our daily yoga and on this computer for hours a day with writing posts and keeping up on Facebook and email and when done I go to my ROKU device and watch free movies. Most days I only get one before bedtime. If I am lucky I get 1 & 1/2 or 2. If any of you long for something better than what you may have, I highly recommend ROKU. I just bought a ROKU express plus and I can talk to it and it finds me movies to watch.

Memory Corner

I have many fond memories, so many and I am happy for that. One occurred to me this morning, so I am posting it now. Back in the nineties my brother Tom had a week-long vacation and he chose to come down to the farm with his delightful daughter Gina. My brother and I sat out on the back deck and discussed the mysteries of life one night as we looked up at the thousands of stars visible way out of town on the farm. We determined that the mysteries of life were just that, mysteries that will never be discovered. Perhaps that has been built into life. We only know what it all means after we die and become spirits with the Lord above, wherever he may be.
