Far too many things have happened to list them all, so I will just tell you about one that surprised me.
Joyce and I slipped away on Thursday to our favorite casino in Oklahoma. We were sitting, playing at a card table when this mature woman was walking by and seeing my Kitty Hawk cap, she said, "thank you for your service." That is not unusual there because Oklahoma is an ultra patriotic state. What was different was she had just stopped in the casino to pass away the time before heading for home. It turned out she was from Texas, another patriotic state. Her name is Eleanor and she works as a volunteer most days a week at a military installation in Texas and other places in her home town.
Now most people just say thanks and then move on, but Eleanor stayed as long as she could and we had a terrific conversation. She appeared to be well educated and spoke well. In our conversation it was obvious she is pro military beyond what most people are. Before she left, she handed me her business card. I was impressed with it, so much so that when I got home the next day I went to Vista Print and started designing my own card. I had made 2 prototypes that night and left them on the Vista site thinking I would go back the next day and make a decision on which to have printed. I emailed Eleanor Friday night just to thank her for our conversation. The next day she replied and suggested I go to Vista Print and design my own card. Great minds seem to think the same way. I decided on the card I wanted and placed an order. It will look like this one below.
I was excited about my design, so I ordered 500 cards. Now I wonder where I will find 500 people to hand them to. One never knows, but I hope the cards will bring in more readers to my blog posts.
