This just occurred to me today and it is frightening!
Everything in our country and likely many other countries is on line. It doesn't matter if you bank on line, your bank information is on line. It doesn't matter if you use the internet to access Social Security, your information is on line. Your medical history is on line. Your credit information is on line. If you shop on line your shopping history is on line somewhere and it can be had, all of everything you is on line. If you go to your bank to contract business of any kind, it cannot be done without the bank being able to access your account on line account.
Our electrical grid is controlled on line. Our military works on line. everything in our lives is on line. If the electrical grid is shut down, your furnace will not run; your refrigerator will not run; your air conditioner will not run. You will not be able to go to the store and buy groceries without the electrical grid and the internet working. I will not be able to keep my beer cold!
If all these facts do not scare you, perhaps you live in a different world. The facts are there; they are actual facts, not something I just dreamed up and posted here. Even farmers cannot operate without electricity. They can't pump water for crops, for milk, for cheese.
What our government has done to prevent this is unknown. Far greater than the government, private utilities and businesses I guarantee have done even less. When the electric grid goes down due to hacking it will not be like a thunderstorm of a tornado shutdown, it will last for months.
