Mud Huts 181026

This is just one of many units built during WW-2 in Millington, Tennessee. They were built right on the ground in an old cotton field to house navy families during the war. It was so flat there any little rain made the grounds a muddy field. This was where Joyce and I first set up housekeeping after we were married. We lived in the left side of the duplex in a tiny efficiency apartment.
This picture above was the living room/bedroom when we were still moving in. There was a kitchenette and a bathroom and that was it. It cost us $40 a month and it came furnished. We had no television, no radio and no money, but it was good. We were just 18, so we found things to do.
