Second post April 24, 2017

We were headed for the fitness center this morning. We were on a two lane street with a wider left turn lane at the Walmart entry and the same for Lynn street which we use to go to the center. I had my left signal on and was about to turn when this woman came flying down the street, far exceeding the 30mph limit. She had her left hand holding her cell phone to her ear. She had evidently been so intent on her conversation she was about to pass Walmart. She realized where she was and took her right hand off the wheel to go across her body to hit the left turn signal, because she was not willing to pull the phone away from her left ear. She let go of the wheel and the car started careening out of control and headed toward us for a head on collision. I really thought we were going to be in the hospital tonight, but she recovered enough to make the left turn on two wheels and never pulled the phone away from her ear.
I implore everyone who reads this to put the phone down when driving. We have a sync system in our car that is hands free, but even that is noticeably distracting, so I don’t call anyone on it. I have seen so many men and women with a phone to their ear and making ultra wide turns that indicate they are not paying attention or cannot control their car with just one hand. Is it worth a phone call to risk your life or worse than that, my and Joyce’s life?
