Junk Mail
I am sitting here looking through yesterday's junk mail delivered by the U.S. postal service. It brings something to mind. All the companies I deal with send me a notice each year about privacy (I think there is a law that requires that) each company in turn tells me that they do not sell any personal information to anyone. Now that makes me wonder how does Direct TV, Dish TV, multiple hearing aid companies, multiple life insurance companies, multiple health insurance companies and a host of other outfits get my name and address? How do they know I have Medicare? Nearly 100 percent of my mail is from companies I have no desire to deal with. All the companies I deal with I do online. All I get from them in the mail is the privacy statement. Joyce tells me not to get annoyed because mail from these outfits gives some people jobs that they need. I suppose she is correct, but I have to wonder how many people actually look at the junk mail they receive? All I do is tear off my name and address and then toss the mail in the trash and burn anything with my name on it. Joyce thinks the junk mail must work or companies would stop using it. I am not so sure.
