Facebook

I was on Facebook this morning and while I have only accepted 18 friend requests there were notifications of friend requests  from over 500 people. All were people I had no idea of who they were. I looked down that list for over an hour. All I can figure is if I don't know them, they don't know me. I can only suppose that for many people it is just a game to see how many thousands of people they can list as friends. I already have so many notifications of postings, I have a difficult time looking at all of them. I am not saying things are wrong here; it just strikes me as odd.
