Trapped in the house, walking the floors
Too damned cold to be walking outdoors
Temperatures stuck in single degrees
Ground like concrete in a deep freeze
Furnace running with all its might
Trying to keep us warm at night
Covers piled high upon my bed
Mostly warm except for my head
Snow outside doesn’t melt away
Winter seems determined to stay
I’d like to go out in the woods to play
But I have to put it off for another day
Some day and I know not when
I’ll be able to go outside again
Temperatures will moderate
Hope it’s soon, cannot wait
