America and the Arab World

I am confused, the Muslims in Syria and around the middle-east want the Americans to intervene and save the day. Muslim preachers and followers around the world denounce Americans and want to kill us infidels; so why should it be Americans to go in and save them from killing themselves? Where was the benefit of our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? The wars to supposedly save America from terror made targets of our young soldiers and a decade later we are still fighting against terrorists there and here in our own country. Why don't we pull out of Muslim areas and just let them kill themselves at whatever rate they choose? They seem to want to kill things, be it Americans or their own religious sects. What am I missing here?
