U-2

The U-2 is just one of Lockheed's great aircraft. This amazing aircraft was produced in 1955! It is still in service and a valuable asset in the U.S. arsenal. The flight ceiling on this craft is still secret, but the Air Force admits to 70,000 feet. The U-2 is a heavy renascence aircraft that keeps our military in touch with the intentions of non-friendly forces. The U-2 provided intelligence that launched the Cuban Missile Crisis and saved us from having Russian nuclear missiles 90 miles south of Florida in 1962. The only U-2 lost  as far as I know was later in the sixties when Gary Powers was shot down over Russia. It is not an SR-71 (another Lockheed wonder) but it came out before and has lasted longer.
