Last weekend my granddaughter Hailey was with me washing dishes.
She looked up at me and asked, “Grandpa, what do the elves do after they make the toys for Christmas?”
I replied, “Well Hailey, with all the toys for all the kids around the world,
you don’t think they can make them in just the Christmas season do you?
The elves work all year around to make those toys.”
She then asked, “Don’t they ever get a vacation?”
I answered, “Yes they do get two weeks in the summer time for vacation.”
“Well,” she then asked, “What about Santa?”
“He gets two weeks a year in Florida,” I suggested.
That seemed to satisfy her.
I cannot help but find joy in children’s beliefs.
