Deer in the Orchard

This morning mama and her twins were in our orchard looking for something to eat. The young ones eventually gathered around our granddaughter's swing set, nibbling at tufts of cool season grass. They reminded me of children at a playground milling about a swing set. They seem to be more comfortable close to the house than they were before. They fed for a while and then laid down to rest and ruminate. All together they spent more than an hour and a half in the yard and orchard. Joyce is beginning to think it was the deer and not the rabbits that ate all of her lettuce and chard last spring. She may be right.
