Summer is gone, faded away,
The leaves are turning. The grass is brown.
The workers mowed the grass all summer long,
I relish the change, and study each leaf,
The winter soon comes, cold and gray,
I’ve rested on my patio the summer through,
I savored each moment I got to rest here,
Soon the cold will force me inside,
I love the fall, the atmosphere,
When I die, I won’t fear,
Spread my ashes in a flower bed,
I’ll fertilize your flowers straight and tall,
Sit on the porch as I would do,
I wish you peace, love and happiness today and always.
Brother Bill
The flowers are wilting; they’ve had their day.
Soon the leaves will cover the ground.
Now the season moves along.
‘Tis a beautiful season, but all too brief.
Nights are longer and they shorten the day. This year November 1st.
I didn’t have much to do.
As I calmly relaxed, sipping my beer.
Like a hermit in a cave, I’m bound to reside.
The air is crisp, the sky is clear.
Save the ashes for this time of year.
For many springs after, you’ll know I’m not dead.
Straight through summer and into the fall.
Enjoy the flowers, yellow, white, orange and blue.
