It Happened in Japan
I met a woman once, in a bathroom in Japan
As many of you know, I walk to the grocery store and back every day. That gives me my half mile walking. Strange things happen at times on my walks. Sometimes I meet and talk to people as we walk together. Sometimes women will offer me a ride home. Sometimes I accept, but not always.
Yesterday was amazing for me. I was half way to the store when this little old lady came whistling past me at a pace twice my gait. By the time I reached the store, she had already checked out and was leaving. This woman was easily my age, but she had speed and stamina that was astounding to me.
She was perhaps a descendent, from a Samurai clan
As one might surmise
It was quite a surprise
There were no walls
There were no stalls
I was in my pee stance
She, in full view, dropped her pants
We spoke not a word
Not an utterance was heard
Just two people tinkling
Neither had an inkling
Of how or what to say
We finished and then walked away
That was 61 years ago
And I still don’t know
Had there been communication
What we would have said
In that far away nation.

I'll comment on the second one first. You must have encountered a former track athlete, possibly an Olympian from the 1976 Summer games in Montreal. On the bathroom thing, wow. Is this a caste system situation? I cannot imagine all Japanese women share accommodations with American Enlisted men.
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom event happened in Youkosuka, Japan, a harbor city used by the navy for its large aircraft carriers. There was a whole different class of people there than other parts of Japan. Nearby there was a high cost club that had nothing but half American, half Japanese girls outside to lure sailors into the club. After the war ended, U.S. army forces were stationed in Japan. Soldiers and Japanese women had children out of wedlock making the most beautiful 20 year old women any sailor ever saw..
DeleteAs for the old woman, I don't know what to make of that.
