250419 The traveling bag

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day. The temperature was 78 degrees here, with winds of 16-18 mph. I don’t usually go out when it's windy, but I thought it was okay to at least walk to my mailbox. It turned out that I enjoyed being outside, so I set off to walk a half mile.

I was turning on the last leg of my walk, less than a quarter mile from my apartment. Out of nowhere came a Walmart plastic bag that was half full of air, making it sail with the wind along the ground. The wind would change direction and the bag followed with it. Going through the parking lot, as the wind changed direction the bag went around cars and came out on the opposite side of them and back on down the parking lot. The bag looked like a coon dog sniffing out its prey.

I continued following the bag as it was going the same direction as I was. I reached my apartment as I saw the bag lift up over a hill and then disappear. I wonder if the bag made it all the way to Springfield?

The bag and I were like ships passing in the night, into the unknown, seeing each other for a moment in time and never crossing paths again.

  1. That just maybe the one that ended in my drive way. I live at then end of a street facing North, any way if there is anything blowing in the air it ends in my yard or drive way. You should have marked it lol

    1. Good one! If I could have caught that bag here, I would have done so. This old man doesn't move fast any more.

  2. I was hoping you would say it all od a sudden crossed your path and you reached out and snapped it out of the air.

  3. Sharon, it was never close enough for me to grab it or I would have done so. During the last leg of my walk, the bag was always more than 15 feet away. Thank you for your comment,
    Bill
