I’m thinking about how our lives can be compared to a river.
The river flows in one direction. It doesn’t go back up to where it came from. Our lives only go in one direction; we can’t go back for even one minute. The river picks up things along its way and takes it with it for a while before the river deposits it somewhere further down its flow. We acquire friends in our lives; they are with us for a while but eventually we are parted from them.
The river flows until it reaches the sea and then the river is no longer a river. We live our lives and at some time we are no longer alive and we become a spirit.
