250324 Just Sittin'

I’m sitting here
drinking a beer
wishing my Joyce was here
I speak out loud to myself
I might as well talk to a magical elf
they sneak into my apartment when I sleep
to my refrigerator they creep
they drink up all of my beer
they leave all the empty cans here
then I have to go to the store
to buy myself some more
what I don’t drink during the day
they drink at night as they play
I need to develop a plan
to catch them if I can
if you have a suggestion let me know
otherwise my cost of drinking will grow
quit drinking beer is out of the question
that won’t count as a suggestion
I’m from a long line of men who drank beer
I must keep the tradition as long as I’m here
