Here’s something that annoys me; I have to buy insurance to protect the landlord’s apartment. It’s like when you buy a car and are making payments on it. You are paying the insurance for a car technically owned by the bank. You buy a house and you are forced to buy insurance for a house the bank owns. When we bought our first house, we did not have a lot of assets so we had to buy an insurance policy to protect the payments on the insurance policy we had to buy for the house. So often with insurance that you buy, you never use it. Then when or if you use the insurance you bought the company doesn't like that. We had that happen to us one year with our homeowners insurance. We were unlucky enough to use it twice; we got a nice letter stating the company that was so happy to get our money for their insurance, no longer wanted or would insure us anymore. Then we went out to find another insurance company to insure us, it was a steep uphill climb and no other company wanted our business.
Here’s the worst of all insurance policies, life insurance. You buy life insurance and pay monthly payments to keep it in force, but you, the buyer never get to collect on it! I bought a Whole Life insurance policy in 1974. It just occurred to me that my whole life policy meant I had to pay for it all of my life. I bought it to protect Joyce if I should die. Joyce has died and I’m still paying for the policy for the second beneficiary.
