231030 Knowledge

How do we gain knowledge?

In school we had books to read and discover history and more recent events. We had teachers who gave us more information. We talked with friends and they related what they had learned. At our jobs we hear more from others there and what they state is true.

How do we know if what we learn from those mentioned is true? History is written by the victors and they slant things to show how they were righteous in their cause, not necessarily the truth, but more likely what they want us to believe.

Teachers have course materials they expound upon, but often they have their own ax to grind and they twist the course materials to suit what they believe really happened.

Now on to friends and coworkers. They will tell you what they have heard from others at work. In general, they will not admit to their failures, but will pass the blame onto someone else. I get that, it’s a human thing and gossip is practiced by many. Sadly gossip is perceived as truth rather than hearsay.

So here we are, how do we acquire knowledge and truth? My answer is, “I don’t know.” Perhaps truth and knowledge is what we personally believe it is. Our truth and knowledge is only ours.
