It’s Saturday, but I’m not in the park and it’s not the fourth of July. That’s a reference to an old song by the group Chicago, “Saturday in the Park”

I can’t imagine how quickly another week has passed. I have no complaints with that. My life seems to be spinning like a children’s toy top. I think they are still available, but kids are interested in cell phones and electronic tablets these days. The era of simplicity is gone. When I was 16, radios were high tech to me and that is when I decided I wanted to learn how to work on radios for my life’s work. The navy gave me the opportunity to do that along with several other types of equipment to repair. By the time I got out of the navy, radios were passe and I had to learn to work on TVs. That led to working on computers and their peripherals. That was never as satisfying to me as old radios. Now all of those skills are long gone. Computers that were once big enough to fill a two bedroom home and carried around in our pockets are more powerful than those old computers. Time and technology have long passed me by at this point in life. Progress continues on and has left me in the train station wondering what happened. I do enjoy using technology to interact with people I never see these days. In the old days, I would have lost those people. Now in the blink of an eye my email is in their inbox waiting to be read. How marvelous is that? With Facebook I can see people’s pictures and see how and what they are doing. It’s become a shining new era in my life. I don’t know what I would do without it. I suppose I am like the kids of today, immersed in using new technology.
