Your Sentinel, Halloween

      The origin of Halloween.
Halloween began with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain when people would dress in costumes and light bonfires to ward off ghosts that killed the crops and brought on winter. In the eighth century Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a celebration of all saints. Soon all saints incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was called All Hallows Eve. Later it became Halloween. Over time this evolved into trick-or-treat with donning costumes and eating sweets.
Halloween is our daughter’s favorite day of the year. She became a witch (a good witch, not a bad one as depicted in movies) that happened after she was expelled from Catholic catechism classes, simply because she asked too many questions in class. Yes this sounds fantastic, but it is true. Asking questions about Christian beliefs is not tolerated. Our daughter is not unique, it happens to a lot of people I know of and drives them away from Cahtolic faith. Our daughter is not affiliated with any coven of any type. She is a good mother and wife. My prayers and her spells kept our Joyce alive during her tribulation in late 2017 when she was clinically deceased twice.
I can say about my own Catholic faith is that they drove me away. I still believe in Jesus Christ, but just don’t have a lot of faith in some of His supposed followers who don’t actually follow His teachings in the New Testament.
What I can say to you is have a happy Halloween however you care to celebrate it.
