Looking AheadFarmers, cattle ranchers, hunters, fishermen and gamblers are always looking ahead to next time, thinking that things will get better. Two things are necessary for happiness in everyone's life. Those two things are hope and looking forward to better days ahead. Joyce and I were married in January many years ago, but for some reason I measure the years by every Christmas day we have together. Maybe it is because the happiness of Christmas is what I feel for every year we have together. I look forward to Christmas every year. Maybe it is because during my navy years we were apart several Christmases and that makes our Christmases together wonderful. |
ReincarnationNothing in this world is ever wasted except for plastic. That fact means that souls are never wasted. I often think that we are normally spirits and being born into a new body is just a short experience between times when we once again return to our natural state of existence as a spirit. I believe that with every reincarnation there seems to be just a little part of us that remembers the previous lifetime. With Joyce it was living in California. It seemed to her that she was back home again the first time we drove across the Arizona border and entered California. For me it was my first time in Japan when I felt somehow I was back home again. This may sound foolish and silly to anyone else, but it is very real to me.

New LifestyleJoyce and I lived our lives on schedules, always meeting those predetermined times and dates whether we felt like it or not. The farm always had things that needed to be done and could not be put off until later. Our child's schedule or needs always came ahead of what we might want to do. Many times we had parents or siblings living with us and their schedules dictated our lives. That was to us the right thing to do and we enjoyed having them, no complaints, but now things are different. Now that it is just the two of us and we can do what we want, when we want. We eat when we feel like it, drink when we want, be it late night or morning. Our inexpensive but extensive wardrobe allows us to do laundry when we want or not for weeks at a time. We have room enough we can be together talking as long as we care to and then we go into our separate areas and have our alone time. Joyce can watch TV or nap as she pleases and I have my time to read or write. That may sound cheesy, but it is Gouda enough for me.
