I spoke about tariffs recently and warned that washing machines and cars would go up after the tariffs were imposed. Right now the prices of US steel have gone up 50%, so the next washing machine, stove, refrigerator or car will cost us more. The war is on and sadly I do not think we will win. Jobs will be lost, not gained. Our own steel manufacturers need to sell products overseas, but with retaliation for our tariffs our steel industries will not be selling overseas. Supporters of our tariffs say this will maybe come out better down the road, but maybe does not feed our factory workers until if and when maybe becomes reality. An old navy chief told me one time, "wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which fills up first."
