Just a little foggy

I wrote this 8 years ago and today I got around to posting it. The day was in October and it was a heavy, heavy fog that morning.

I was with pen and paper on the porch because I had the time.
I must have gone mad for I thought each line had to rhyme.
A truck rolled by as slow as could be.
The fog was so thick he just couldn’t see.
A squirrel scampered close by, crazy was he.
He was burying his nuts back into the tree.
I heard more engines revving too far away to see.
They could have been a quarter mile away from me.
The air was so wet I had to sit down.
I feared if I breathed in too much I might drown.
