Maybe Maybe Not

A good friend, with whom I correspond with on a regular basis, suggested I write something either on the possibility of extraterrestrial life or if I really want to stress myself, the origin of the universe.

So here goes on the origin of the universe. While some say it all started with a big bang, (they even have their own TV show), others called creationists, claim it began with a deity. To me, this is the old conundrum of which came first, the chicken or the egg? You cannot have an egg without a chicken and you cannot have a chicken without an egg. The big bang theory is the same thing, all matter came together at the same time and exploded creating our ever-expanding universe, but where did the matter come from? All I know is, it’s the fact that the universe is here, or is it? Could it be that we are all suffering from a mass hysteria or dream that seems to never end? Are we in a dream in which we are a physical being living on a planet called earth where there are some nice people like us, but far too many assholes who want to lie, cheat and war with others? In our dream we think we live a long life of 80 years, but what is 80 years in relation to the age of the known universe? 80 years is not even the blink of an eye in the universe, assuming that the universe is a reality.

Now about extraterrestrial life, the answer is no and yes. If we, assuming there is a we and this is all not just a dream, see them in their flying saucers, then they are no longer extraterrestrials, they are here among us. And really, how many times have we seen or met someone and thought what planet is this guy from? Hollywood makes movies and TV shows about people who seem to be clueless about human interaction; could it be that writers have seen people who are that way so the writers write shows about that? Where would someone who has no idea about human interactions come from? Is not the answer obvious? But of course, they are from somewhere else, extraterrestrial!

I will try to be serious for a moment. Physicists are now looking for what they have dubbed the God particle that makes everything they know come together, makes everything work as they understand. They are studying wormholes and existence of different dimensions, but they need proof in the hand before they declare anything as real. Once they figure all that out, and they must think it exists or why study it at all? Once they figure things out, we may have some answers as to the existence of extraterrestrials among us.
