Things that were and are no more

I was sitting talking to Joyce the other day and these observations came into our conversation. We came up with a list of businesses that were very good ways of making a living in our lifetime and are now for the most part gone.

TV shops were once all over town and technician/owners made a good living at them.
Filling stations all had service bays where mechanics worked on cars. Now I don't know of a single one.
Corner confectioneries were in every neighborhood. Owners lived on the premises and did well.
Independent owned hardware stores were a good business, now there are fewer hardware stores and all are franchises.
Independent small pharmacies are disappearing very rapidly.
Small farms are no longer able to make a living and farmers make a living working in towns.
Small appliance repair shops are gone.
Butcher shops are few and far between.
Family restaurants are in rapid decline.
Old style dry goods stores are gone.
Family bakeries are gone.
Small fishing resorts are gone. There are big fancy ones, but no small family run resorts that I know of.
All of these are just my observations and I could be wrong.
