Midnight Air

Saturday night

out at midnight

on the back deck for some air

between the trees and roof 
there was but one tiny skyward square

but in one little patch

my eyes did catch

thousands of twinkling stars

along with the passing planet Mars

stood awestruck for quite a while

able to do nothing but look up and smile
