First snow falling down
Covering over frozen ground
Power’s still on and that’s good
Everything working as it should
By the end of the day
It could go either way
Wood is stacked and ready to go
Should we need to make the fireplace glow
With a 4 or 5 day storm we expect the worst
But we’re prepared, it’s not our first
Snowfall lightens, but it’s a trick
By weekend it will be heavy and thick
Anticipation is running high
As we observe a threatening sky
A big hawk just swooped to the ground
A tasty field mouse he just found
A few bites he had to fill up his tummy
Before he flew away with a mouse so yummy
