250510 Life before plastic

As far as I know the first use of a type of plastic was used back in the 1800s. Plastic came into the mainstream in the 1960s with plastic bottles. Now plastic is used for nearly everything. No matter what we buy, there’s plastic wrapping involved. Plastic is tough; I can’t tear it apart. I have to use a knife or scissors to slice into packages. It’s frustrating to me. In some cases it’s nearly impossible to open a package. By the time I do get a package open, I’m ready to throw it away. The once new wonder of the world is now destroying the planet. Something and I know not what needs to be done to save our planet. Plastic fills the landfills and fills the oceans with its floating debris.

I can remember a time when everything was put into paper bags, or came in glass jars or cardboard packing. All of those were reusable and natural products. Plastic is only disposable as far as I know.

Now onto prices in grocery stores and reusable goods. They are getting more expensive every day. I can remember when a pound of Folgers coffee was 33 cents. These days a pound of coffee is upwards of $12. Another thing is packaging, a container of Maxwell House coffee that had 42 ounces in it uses the same container but there’s only 32 ounces of coffee inside but the price is the same as if it had 42 ounces of coffee in it. Packaging of everything is the same as it was, but the contents are less. We are being duped on a massive scale and there’s nothing we can do about it but shake our head and go along with the program.
