Did you ever think when a hearse goes by
Typical Missouri weather, one day my air conditioner was running and the outside temperature bounced between 85 and 100 degrees.
Then overnight the temperature dropped to 44 and then 42 and has stayed there in my part of town.
This morning I put on my winter coat and headed to my morning stop at Aldi’s. I cut across the open field. I noted there was some morning dew, but didn’t think much about it. I walked about 10 feet and my shoes were sopping wet, as were my socks.
One is never too old to do stupid stuff.
After I got home and warmed up, I got busy. I’ve hung curtains over the windows. The window blinds don’t do much to keep the cold out, but the curtains help a lot. I haven’t tackled the sliding glass door yet, but I will soon. The geometry makes it difficult to properly put curtains up and keep them up. The old apartment was impossible to hang drapes and keep them up. This apartment has a different configuration, giving me high hopes that the drapes will remain up and help keep this place warm.
Brother Bill
That you might be the next to die
They open a vein that’s almost green
Blood comes out like whipping cream
They wrap you up in a big white sheet
And throw you down about six feet deep.
I continued on to Aldi’s, but walked around on the sidewalk on my way back. My feet were wet and cold when I got home and it took about 20 minutes to warm them up.

This first item goes back to my childhood. Kids in the neighborhood sang it all the time.
