250421 Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, my kids prepared a feast for dinner.

Through the years my son-in-law has become quite a chef. Yesterday’s meal was as fine as any high end restaurant could serve. He cooked the best ham I ever tasted in my lifetime. That along with his own concoction of cooked pasta and a great salad made for a delicious meal.

My granddaughter made a chocolate cake that was superb! She and my son-in-law learned a lot from Joyce (best cook ever) and they have improved their culinary skills through the years, matching and improving Joyce’s abilities.

My daughter kept me entertained while the other two prepared the meal. I had recently given all of my furniture, including my dining table and chairs to them. I came up with a very simple seating plan for our dinner yesterday. I used folding chairs and tray tables to create a simple cafe style grouping. My daughter likened it to a Parisian cafe. It was indeed that style.

I had prepared some Easter treats for them using healthy snack foods I knew they liked. The coup-de-gras was some small plastic Easter eggs that I put money inside in different denominations from $5, $10 and $20 dollar bills. I laid them out across the TV stand and allowed each of them to pick 3 eggs. I didn’t remember which ones had what denomination of bills in them and that’s what made the egg hunt so much fun. Everyone enjoyed the hunt.

Once they left, my stomach was so full I had to go lay down like a beached whale. I didn’t eat again until this morning. All in all, it was our best Easter since Joyce passed.
