Rocks to life 1601

I watched a show on NOVA the other night. It said that all life on earth came from rocks on the planet. I have known a few people in my 70 years that had not evolved very far from rocks in my lifetime. It appears that rocks are made of minerals. Minerals are what we use to make stronger steel and they are used to make longer lasting lithium batteries and life itself.
Scientists from San Diego back in the fifties ground up rocks, water and electrical arcs (simulating lightening) to recreate earth's earliest life forms. Today scientists in San Diego are re-creating those same experiments and have added high pressure to simulate the effects at the bottom of the ocean, again creating life forms there. But with the added pressure they have created a byproduct we call pure gold! Now it is in small amounts, but within a few short years they will be making gold by the pound. Isn't science wonderful? The U.S. will be able to return to the gold standard to back up the dollar.
