I Have a Dream

Joyce and I spent our long rainy day yesterday listening to her 5 CD set of Garth Brooks collection "Blame it all on my roots."
I cannot help it; I enjoy songs about cowboys, old pickup trucks and over the road truckers.
I like books and movies about World War submarines. I have an extensive selection of those books.
I have never been a cowboy, an over the road trucker or a submariner; it is all about the dream.
I did have an old 65 Chevy pickup once and it was a great rig.

We sat yesterday, drinking our beer and listening to those songs and I had a dream.
I told Joyce I would like to load up a pickup truck, drive just 10 miles down from here and get on old route 66 and take it all the way to the Pacific.
Then I would turn north on 101 and drive along the beach all the way to British Columbia.
We would see everything up there and then return to Washington and drive back home through Washington, Idaho, Montana and so forth.
She pointed out that we get tired on just a 90 mile trip to the Nations.
I countered with the fact that in my dream we would not have to drive hundreds of miles a day.
We would make stops all along our path and spend time soaking in the local flavor and seeing things we have never seen before.
Our only problem would be keeping enough ice in the cooler to keep the beer cold.
I think she is ready, now all we need is the money.
If there was just some lottery where we could win the money to make the trip...
